Debuted Age 31 on April 18, 1944 and started his MLB career 0x13 before going 3x3 with a walk and an RBI in an 11-3 loss to the Cardinals on April 23. Went 13x28 with 4RBI over eight games in sporadic playing time from May 11-June 13, going 6x9 with a double (the only extra-base hit of his career), a run scored and 2RBI in a double-header against the Pirates on June 11, 1944. Had over 2,500 minor-league hits and led the 1937 Texas League with 46 doubles.
